Meet HIVE, Feadship’s latest concept design.

Revealed during the Monaco Yacht Show, HIVE is Feadship’s largest concept design to date at 115 metres. Developed by Studio De Voogt, led by Senior Designer Jan Schaffers, together with Feadship’s naval architects and engineering specialists, HIVE explores a different starting point for yacht design: not the conventional arrangement of spaces, but the people who use them.

At its centre is a vast open space spanning four decks, designed as the shared heart of life on board. Around it, spaces unfold for gathering, retreat, entertainment and exploration, including a two-storey beach lounge, water-level dining, a secluded foredeck library and garden, a 20-metre ContraWave™ pool, an underwater lounge and an observation lounge with a retractable glass roof.

HIVE also explores a new exterior direction for Studio De Voogt. A virtual command centre frees the forward superstructure for the owner’s accommodation and observation lounge, while expanses of glass, integrated terraces and a low profile visually connect the yacht from one level to the next.

Behind the design is engineering grounded in technologies that exist today or are already in active development. HIVE combines a DC electrical architecture, HVO generators, fuel cells and a 5 MWh battery bank, together with Voith Schneider Propellers for precise, quiet and highly manoeuvrable propulsion.

Like every Feadship concept since 2006, HIVE looks beyond the conventions of today to explore what could shape yachting tomorrow.

As Jan Schaffers explains: “We wanted to explore what becomes possible when you start not with what a yacht has always been, but with how people might want to live on board in the near future.”
