114.2m NAUSICAÄ | Construction
Industrial designer Marc Newson takes us behind the scenes of 114.2m NAUSICAÄ as he reflects on the journey from concept to completion.
NAUSICAÄ challenged conventional approaches to yacht construction. From her flowing, sculptural forms to her extensive use of glass, every detail required close collaboration between design, engineering and craftsmanship to realise a singular design vision.
“It is extremely challenging for a design project, of any description, to literally deliver on the vision conceived and presented at concept stage,” says Newson. “Here, I am very proud to say that every detail, at every scale, has been realised at the most coherent level. Working with an immensely creative client has enabled rare opportunities to push the boundaries and test the limits of form, material and functionality.”
